What’s in the Name? I figured out that you have to “Bolt” all your senses together to play this game.To be transparent, I was given a gift certificate to purchase and try the game. It’s has a nice throwback feel and isn’t the ubiquitous digital app so there is an actual feel or depressing of buttons from yesteryear. There is a nice feature of having sound or no sound in play mode. Thumbs up! One can play alone or with a friend and in a more simple or advanced mode so a single player can challenge them self. It’s not like the game Simon where the colors and positions are associated with a pitch. The musician in me wasn’t a big fan of the set of sounds the game makes.People who love patterns will really enjoy playing. I can see my students with autism not wanting to put the game down. For the higher functioning ones this game should be a fun and easy since research has found that visual patterns are preferred and visual processing is augmented over people without…

No WiFi needed and batteries included If you are looking for a portable and educational game that doesn’t require WiFi, you may wish to try Educational Insights’ Brainbolt. I was thinking it was going to be a fancier version of Simon, but discovered it was a very different sort of memory game. There are 21 different tiles that light. After you press start, you are supposed to press the tile that is lit. The trick is after the the first one is lit and you press it, the game adds a second light and you are supposed to keep track of what the newest lit tile is and only press that one. This continues until you make a mistake or you complete all 21 tiles. After playing it a few times, I’ve discovered I’ll need more practice to get a decent score. I think 10 of 21 was my best but it may have been higher. I turned off the game before realizing there was a high score button. Although I don’t foresee my kids playing this for hours on end, I’m hoping Brainbolt will be a fun road trip game for them. I believe they will even…

Highly addictive memory light up game Blinking light game that challenges your memory. Recommend for 7 and up. There is a regular mode and a timed mode. When you start you have to press each new square button that lights. There are 21 buttons in all. To win you have the press the buttons in the right sequence. There is 1 and 2 player mode. In 2 players mode each player gets half of the board. To challenge yourself more you can go into advance mode. There is a repeat mode if you want to play the last game again. There is a also score button. All menu options are accessible on top of game. The volume on/off button and game on/off button are on the bottom of the game. Both my 5 year old and 9 year old enjoy playing this game. It’s great for travel and its compact to hold with two hands. Also very addictive for adults to play.Only complaint is a bit pricey.
